The Founders of BagWasher Sheri & Trip Butler

Introducing the BagWasher – a meticulously designed kitchen accessory targeting plastic waste on both local and global scales. Fueled by my personal journey of handwashing numerous zip-top style plastic bags, I questioned: “Why hasn’t a dishwasher-safe zip-top style bag accessory ever been created?”

I’m Sheri Butler, a passionate cook, dedicated parent, fearless adventurer, and a driven entrepreneur. I’m excited to introduce the BagWasher, aimed at combating the global plastic crisis immediately in each home. As an active member of the Woman Inventors movement in the US, my commitment to this cause is unwavering.

Traditionally viewed as single-use, the “zip-top plastic bag” has hidden potential. Designed for efficiency, user-friendliness, and recyclability, these bags are often effortlessly discarded due to washing inconveniences. Immediately contributing to our planet’s plastic crisis. The waste business refers to these bags as “plastic film”. That material is a material that is only recycled at certain facilities. For example: your local grocery store, and companies like Ridwell, Recyclops, and TerraCycle.

Inspired by Sheri’s quest to rewash zip-top style bags, we’ve successfully brought that vision to life. With a patented design and multiple proven prototypes, we’re now ready for the next step – funding. Our journey included crafting prototypes using innovative 3D printing, while the final BagWasher will be produced using recyclable PPE through injection molding in Seattle. Plastic waste, whether in landfills or oceans, is a global concern. The BagWasher addresses this by empowering individuals to effortlessly reuse plastic zip-top bags, reduce plastic usage, and promote recycling. By extending the life cycle of these bags, we’re taking a step towards alleviating plastic pollution. Your reusable silicone bags will also wash effectively in the dishwasher with BagWasher.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make the BagWasher a standard kitchen accessory, just like your trusty can opener. BagWasher will immediately reduce plastic waste. Bringing first-hand awareness to consumers of the depth of plastic waste and how to reduce plastic waste easily. Along with your BagWasher purchase our customers will receive accurate recycling information for their specific area. This website will continually have the information our customers can rely on for hard to recycle items and partners. It is our mission to be part of the change. To educate and promote the positive effects of reusing and reducing and then recycling.

Vision

Our vision, just like the can opener, is to have a set of the BagWasher in every kitchen in the world. The instant impact of reducing that plastic film waste that is unconsciously being added to the landfills, blowing in the wind, and sinking in the waters of our planet. This can be reduced by reusing those bags, and then recycling them effectively. By changing the way we view these zip-top style plastic bags as single-use to reusable, fosters a more sustainable future. The dedication to making the steps towards a better tomorrow can happen one bag at a time.
